Catholics are not against babies. The Catholic Church has declared that all human life should be treated with the same respect even that started in a test tube or, even if someday, cloned. Catholics as a rule respect science in its mission to discover and explain the universe that God has created. However some science does not properly respect human life that Catholics believe is sacred and a gift from God. It is this small area of science that the Catholic Church worldwide, not just in Kenya, speaks out against. Catholics and many other Christians believe that a soul is placed in a human at the point of conception. This is why the Church celebrates on March 25 the feast of the Annunciation when Mary said “Yes!” to God and Jesus was conceived. In most in vitro fertilizations, more than one egg is fertilized.
