The installed SATA HDD is recognized properly by the BIOS. Still, why doesnt the new drive show up on Windows Explorer?
Ans This problem creeps up when the newly installed HDD does not have disk partitions or there are two hard drives using one drive letter. To remedy the situation, go to the Disk Manager Utility, of which the location varies depending on the version of Windows that you are using. If youre using Windows XP, click start, go to the Control Panel, and then click Performance and Maintenance. Select Administrative Tools and double click the Computer Management icon. On the left side, to expand the storage category, click on the Disk Management icon to create, change, or delete partitions. Be careful though when using this utility because of risks of accidental data deletion. It is recommended that you read all available documentation from Microsoft if you are not experienced in handling hard drive partitions.
