Some students are selected for verification by the federal processing center. This means that they must submit documentation to verify the information entered on the FAFSA. The verification information is reviewed by a counselor and corrections are made to the FAFSA if necessary. Once verification is complete, an award letter is generated. We try to request all documents (ie. tax returns, verification worksheet, etc.) at once. However, a review of these documents may indicate some conflicting information that, by federal law, must be resolved. We may then need to request additional information from you to resolve the discrepancy. There are also additional documents required for specific aid programs (i.e. promissory note for Perkins Loan). An award may not be generated until all verification information is reviewed as this can directly affect your eligibility.
