The final rules named X12 Version 4010A as the standard effective October 16, 2003. Can I use a different version of X12?
The Secretary adopted specific Implementation Guides for version 4010A. Any other version is not in compliance after October 16, 2003. HINT: Pragmatically speaking, you can use a 4030 translator table with the 4010A mapping. As long as the ISA/GS are “fixed” to say 4010A, no one will be able to tell the difference. (It is, in fact a 4010A implementation.) The trick is in the mapping.
