(We were on a six period day before.) Since Indiana colleges have instigated Core 40 (the number of required classes to get into universities in Indiana), many elective classes suffered with lower enrollment because students didn’t have time in their schedules to take the class. This was especially a problem with foreign language because our students are college bound. Many of my students couldn’t go on to advanced level because they didn’t have room in their schedules. We know that block “works” for us in the sense that we have many more students taking foreign language now than in the six period day.
