The EIPA screening version (the EIPA Pre-hire) provides school administrators with a hiring recommendation (hire, hire with caution, do not hire at this time) but does not provide a numerical score. How does Act 57 impact on new hires who have taken the EIPA Pre-hire?
Through agreement with ODHH, individuals who have taken the EIPA Pre-hire and have received either the hire or hire with caution recommendation may be employed. These interpreters, however, must take the appropriate level and language of the EIPA stimulus version and score at the minimum 3.5 standard by the start of the 2006 2007 school year. New interpreters who have taken the EIPA Pre-hire after the start of the 2006 2007 school year have one calendar year to reach the 3.5 standard on the EIPA.
