The difference between an african elephant and an indian elephant?

Apart from the many physical differences mentioned, African elephants are difficult to tame, whereas Indian elephants have been used as working and ceremonial animals for a very long time.

The ears of an African elephant are said to resemble the continent of Africa, and Indian elephants’ ears are said to resemble the shape of India.

As you have already summized by the responses herein the size of the ears is the most readily recognizable way of telling the difference between these two — Indian elephants having the smaller ears and tusks — but, they are also somewhat smaller overall than the African elephant — but, this is not so readily noticable since a smaller or more immature African elephant can appear in size much like the fully mature Indian variety !!

I think Indian Elephants have longer tusks, or the African elephant has little to none, I always get them confused, try going on Image search and typing in the name. This will probably show you all of the physicall diffrences.
