The current KLIA Main Terminal is underutilised. Even if AirAsia says it has reached maximum capacity at the current LCCT, why can AirAsia X use the KLIA Main Terminal?
AirAsia X is the long-haul version of AirAsia. Both airlines operate along similar models, meaning both are low-cost airlines rather than the full-service carriers which operate out of the KLIA Main Terminal. The low-cost model requires that costs be kept to a minimum, with the savings passed on to passengers in the form of low fares. Operating out of the KLIA Main Terminal negates this, given the charges and fees imposed by Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd., which owns manages and operates the main terminal.
