The Crucified Life – Are You True Salt Or Tasteless Salt?

0

Jesus said in Luke 14:34-35, 34 “Salt is good; but if the salt has lost its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? 35 It is neither fit for the land nor for the dunghill, but men throw it out. He who has ears to hear, let him hear!” Jesus preached almost a whole sermon before this, but let us have a look at what this means. In years gone past, salt was used to not only flavor things but to preserve meats, as they did not have a fridge back then for meat. Most cooks when they cook things they add salt to most of what we eat. If you have ever had chips without salt or tasted butter or any food without salt you will know what a shock your taste buds get without it. I think that the fact that we are used to salt in all our food and do not suffer sickness because of the lack of salt in things that it needed to be in, the punch and power of Jesus words here are lost on us. In the sermon on the mount in Matthew Jesus tells us that we are meant to be salt. He tells us that we are meant to be light
