The constantly increasing energy bills have had a serious effect on the bottom-line of my business. What can I do to try and improve matters?
There are many things the average business can do to reduce energy consumption (and therefore bills) often by 10% – 20%, and without any financial investment. This can equate to a 5% increase in sales. A free energy survey, via BISNES or the Carbon Trust, can identify the main areas where savings could be made and also provide guidance on the financial and carbon emission savings which could be achieved. The Carbon Trust also provide a range of good practice guides and case studies, as examples of businesses who have made savings and how they did it. Have a look at www.carbontrust.co.uk. BISNES can provide a basic energy good practice guide, looking at areas such as heating, lighting, compressed air (a significant user and potential waster of energy), and general equipment. This may provide a good starting point and identify some quick-wins, to get the ball rolling and establish interest and momentum in the business.
