• When you install the console, the deployment wizard prompts for your download credentials. These are valid for 30 days. The console downloads the endpoint scanning software, the engine and data from the Sophos website (so you will need a valid internet connection) and creates an “agent deployment package”. • This package can be deployed to up to 200 computers. • SCSS automatically downloads the latest data to the console, and from this creates a package for scanning the agent. In order to run a scan SCSS requires the very latest updates, so you will need to create a new “agent deployment package” if you want to run a scan at a later date. • Two options are available for deployment: automatic or manual. These are described in the ‘Scan your computers’ section of the startup guide. Note – if you want to scan the console computer, then the scanning agent needs to be deployed to that computer by running the installer manually.
