Yes and no. The proposed site plan for the library expansion at the current location would not require the use of any of the space south of the church on which we are proposing to build the addition. However, the library plan as presently proposed would encroach on the south end of the ally in order to accommodate the construction of a new bookmobile garage and related library services. The relocation of the ally would require a small piece of land on which the southeast corner of the annex building is now located. The annex building would need to be demolished to allow for this relocation of the alley. The church would be offered a fair market price for the annex building in the event the library project proceeds as currently envisioned. The cost of the annex purchase and demolition of the building would be paid by the city. The library Board of Trustees will decide on a library expansion plan at their meeting in September.
