The CFIA announced the Emerald Ash Borer Infested Place Order for the Municipality of Chatham-Kent and the Counties of Elgin, Essex, Lambton and Middlesex. What does this mean to me?
On July 9, 2009, the CFIA announced that all of Middlesex County, including the City of London, as well as Chatham-Kent and the Counties of Elgin, Essex, Lambton are now under one Infested Place Order to help slow the spread of the Emerald Ash Borer (EAB). The Infested Place Order applies to any area within the boundaries of the above mentioned Municipalities and Counties. Residents of London are permitted to move woody materials including branches, firewood-sized material, roots and ash nursery stock within the boundaries of the Infested Place Order. For example, you may move woody material from London to Windsor (Essex County), but you may not move woody material from London to Grand Bend (Huron County). Residents can only move ash material and firewood outside the boundaries of the Infested Place Order with prior written authorization from the CFIA in the form of a Movement Certificate.
