Evergreen will be turning a deteriorating industrial site into a destination rich in nature, culture and community that will celebrate and interpret the essential natural and cultural heritage themes. To achieve this, Evergreen is working closely with the City (Heritage Preservation Services) and the Ontario Heritage Trust to ensure compliance with all relevant heritage legislation and by-laws including all easement agreements. Evergreen worked with heritage consultant, ERA Architects to complete a Heritage Impact Assessment, a Conservation Strategy, and a Detailed Construction Plan. This study assesses the site from a built form, cultural landscape, and historical perspective. It also presents a conservation strategy that outlines the historical evolution and integrity of elements on the site and the prioritization of heritage significant elements from greatest to lesser.
