The Beatles sucked, can we stop talking about them now?
The Beatles did suck. They also went from being nothing more than a boy band to ripping off anyone they could and claiming credit for it. As soon as Dylan’s “Stream-of-Consciousness” style took off, the Beatles tried their hand at it and gave us such “influential” “masterpieces” as Yellow Submarine, Octopus’s Garden, and Revolution #9 (number 9, number 9 number 9…..number 9). They also tried ripping of the British underground, psychedelic sound. They never had the timing right. It all still came across as the boy band sound. The Beatles rushed to get Lucy in the Sky out before Pink Floyd got to release Point Me at the Sky. Knowing the Floyds were perfectionists, the Beatles were able to do this, though Point Me at the Sky is by far a superior song, more poignant, and far more entertaining. Luckily, the Beatles never attempted to steal Pink Floyd’s spacey sound. Pink Floyd’s irregular timing actually helped them by making it difficult to steal their songs. But, being a major force in
