The ALE rules require that all ALE students be assessed at least annually. What assessments are required for part-time students?
Annual assessment is required of all ALE students. Part-time students who are also receiving home-based instruction or are also enrolled in approved private schools are not required to participate in the Washington Assessment of Student Learning (WASL), but are required by the ALE rules to be assessed at least annually. Because home-based students are also required to complete an annual assessment to satisfy home-based instruction requirements, this would be an opportunity for the ALE program and parents to work together to use one assessment to satisfy both requirements.
