A Technically, nothing is wrong; it’s just that Canon didn’t include a feature which would allow you to see the viewfinder image properly stretched out in “letterbox” fashion. Most Sony camcorders will do this, and why Canon chose not to offer this is a mystery (the technology is not rocket science, after all). If you want to see a properly stretched 16×9 image while you’re shooting, then you’ll need to run cables to a 16×9 field monitor.
