Testing of the building envelope showed leakage greater than .5 air changes per hour. How can I correct this?
Houses constructed to code should easily meet this standard due to requirements that framing junctures and penetrations be completely sealed. Use of building wraps (exterior air barriers) has also improved the tightness of building envelopes. If a house fails the envelope leakage test, leaks can be located by either feel or a smoke generator while the house is under negative pressure. Leaks that are accessible can then be sealed.
