Sometimes I wish the gauges on my TD had some kind of limit indication. Where would the “red line” be on the tach and temperature gauge, if MG had been inclined to mark them? Anyone care to hazard an opinion? The tach would probably be redlined somewhere around 5500 – 5700 RPM (the point of maximum power) and the temp gauge would not be redlined because the boiling point is dependent on the % of anti-freeze mixed with the water. The 1980 that you indicated in your other e-mail would be a good temperature to be running at depending on the ambient temperature and the grade the car was going up. Our TD runs consistantly in the low 90s C without much variation, but then, the block and radiator have been recently cleaned well and I am running a coolant recovery system so the radiator always has coolant clear to the top. The redline would be at 5200 RPM on the tach. On the temp gauge it would be at 100 degrees. That is the boiling point of water at sea level. The handbook says normal temps a
