Taxotere® Chemotherapy Treatment: How Is it Given?

0

Taxotere® (docetaxel) is given intravenously (I.V.) into the vein. Taxotere® chemotherapy treatment takes about one hour, and usually people receive treatments every three weeks. However, doctors will determine how often and how much Taxotere® is given, based on their patients’ individual needs. If you and your doctor decide Taxotere® treatment is right for you, your doctor will prescribe another medication called dexamethasone, which you will start before your Taxotere® chemotherapy treatments to help reduce treatment side effects. Your doctor will determine the amount and frequency of your dexamethasone. It is important to take dexamethasone exactly as your doctor prescribes it. If you forget to take the medication, or you do not take it as scheduled, be sure to inform your doctor or nurse BEFORE your next Taxotere® chemotherapy treatment. In the Taxotere® patient information leaflet you will find a convenient chart to help you remember when to take your dexamethasone. For more infor
