TARRIF believes funding for roads is inadequate and yet the group opposes the road tax ballot issues. Isn t something better than nothing?
No, not if it prevents something better from happening. If tax money is available, City Hall will continue to subsidize new development. Our perception is that the development community is in control of the City Council. On matters of interest to the development community, no changes can occur without the blessing of this group. We believe that the City Council should be responsive to the voters. We wish to determine if voters want to continue subsidizing new development or want development to pay its fair share. We believe that the best way to determine the voters’ preference is by the results of the November election. If voters want development to pay its fair share, we believe that the best way to get the attention of City Hall is to withhold road tax funds by defeating Proposition #4 and Proposition #5. This result will create a near-term shortfall, but City Hall will be forced to honor the voters’ wishes and find an equitable long-term road financing solution. Send a message to yo
