Taking Abilify long term: does the restlessness ever diminish or go away?

I am taking Abilify 5mg a day for one month. Does the restlessness feeling, Akathisia, diminish or go away after a time.Also, what are some ways to counteract this feeling without taking more other medication. Abilify helps me alot with feelings of hurt and anger and getting upset. If there is a better med for this I would like to know. I was on lamictal before but unfortunately I developed a rash and had to discontinue. Thank you.
