System require a grease trap prior to the filter unit?

No, the Biolytix System does not require a grease trap pretreatment system for domestic kitchen wastewater. The system was successfully tested with domestic wastewater to Australian Standard AS1546.3 without a grease trap pretreatment system installed. Installation without a grease trap provides the best environmental outcome, as the wastewater is treated in an odourless treatment system without the need for handling and further treatment of grease trap waste accumulation. For some commercial applications with very high grease and oil loading however it may be necessary to add an additional aerobic treatment step to properly deal with the kitchen waste stream.
