Surely they’re just a bit of fun?
The reality away from the racetracks is far from fun. Thousands of dogs bred for racing never make it to the track, and thousands ‘disappear’ when their racing lives are over. Conditions in some horse rearing stables and dog kennels are horrific. The problem with racing animal sports is that it’s what happens away from the tracks, as well as what happens on the tracks, that’s of concern.
