Surely any Contractor saves a lot more money and keeps better control of a Project if they can do the Project Management and electrical engineering works in house?
We have sadly seen several companies lose tens of thousands of pounds through an inability to properly understand at an early enough stage in a project the necessary high Contractual Standards of performance and documentation expected by Network Rail in relation to Railway Electrification Project Management, Commissioning and Contractors Responsible Engineer duties. We believe that the argument that it is cheaper and better for the Contractor to Project Manage the works himself is flawed for the following reasons: 1. Unless you constantly specialise in Rail Electrification Project Management and the Technical, Company and Line Standards, the contractual demands of the role are easily misunderstood and mistakes /omissions can be costly for the Client or Main Contractor. 2.
