Supreme Court Justice David Souter is retiring. Who should replace him?
I would semi-seriously propose that the Supreme Court desperately needs a comedian. While this may seem silly, I think one of the problems with the legal system is that practitioners get so wrapped up in the language, processes, and technicalities of the law that they forget to look at the underlying realities of what they are discussing. Comedians, by the nature of their business, are skilled at cutting through the nonsense and pointing out that the Emperor is naked. If I can’t have a comedian on the Supreme Court, then I’d settle for a strong civil libertian like Glenn Greenwald or Johnathan Turley.
