Suppose that you got the ultimate power and authorities to solve global problems. Where will you start?
I suppose you don’t mean where I’d necessarily start, but rather what I consider most important. First I need to assume that my authority is absolute and world-wide and unaffected by changes in public opinion. I am answerable to no-one! So, let’s go to the top of my priority list. In my opinion most of the problems facing the world today are rooted in overpopulation. Humans are multiplying themselves totally out of any control, having (thanks to technology and medicine) long since defeated the regulating effects of natural selection. We are faced ever more clearly with choosing between our long cherished “principles” (like God given rights; sanctity of human life; human rights) and saving the planet. I would come down clearly in favour of the planet, to a great extent because, one way or another, that decision is going to fall one day anyway in the not too distant future, and I believe, the sooner the better.
