Sugar production uses a lot of water — will PlantBottle packaging create added demand for water?

We don’t expect it to. For our initial supply, we are using existing sugar cane and/or molasses already in production and available on the market. Long term, we are working with our partners to advance technologies to allow us to use other plant materials for future generations of PlantBottle packaging. Other potential raw materials, which would have multiple sources across various geographies, could include wood chips, corn stover or wheat stalks. Our vision is to bring to market bottles that are composed of 100 percent renewable materials and are still fully recyclable, just as existing PET plastic bottles are. Ultimately, our goal is to develop recyclable plastic bottles made from plant-based waste — thereby turning waste into a resource.
