Suffix 00 – what about staff who have more than one use for the suffix (more than one extra miscellaneous earning)? Where do I get a list of suffixes?
Information on suffix below is from the manual. Employees with more than one Stipend against the same position would have S1, S2, S3, etc. Employees with more than one Miscellaneous Earning like car or phone allowance would have M1, M2, M3, etc. Suffix: The job record is defined by a Position Number and Suffix combination. The Suffix is like a sequence number. It is used to differentiate one Job from another Job (on the same employee) with the same Position number. All earnings on a Job must be funded the same way so employees will have multiple job records in Banner when the earnings on one Job have a different funding source or distribution than earnings on another Job. For example, a Stipend will always be on a separate Job from the employee’s regular Job. Suffix is usually just a number but we have defined some special characters to use when we want to easily identify what the Job is for just by glancing at the Position/Suffix combination.
