Sudo doesn work — should I worry?

I was attempting to do an RPM install following instructions found on these pages, but was surprised that the system couldn’t find “sudo”. I was able to proceed anyway by doing “su” to root, but am wondering if I should be concerned about the missing “sudo”. Thanks!
