After weeks of teaser pictures and videos, the Stile Bertone Mantide has finally been fully revealed at Auto Shanghai to mixed reviews. Love it or hate it, Jason Castriota’s latest one-off creation is guaranteed to turn heads. Drawing heavy influence from the aerospace industry, Formula 1, and Bertone’s past concepts, such as the BAT series, Castriota has created a long, low-slung supercar that is either incredibly hot and futuristic or heinously ugly, depending on how you look at it. Castriota says the all-carbon fiber bodywork has taken as much as 220 lbs off of the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 it’s based on and dropped its drag coefficient to just 0.298. While the flying buttresses on the sides may look a bit comical to some, Bertone says they’re integral to the car’s aerodynamics and help streamline airflow and create downforce.
