STI such as chlamydia or gonorrhea?
When someone is found to have chlamydia or gonorrhea they are given antibiotics. Once they have finished taking all of the medication (usually a week or two) their infection will often be gone. Some types are harder to get rid of than others, so people should talk to a doctor if they feel like their first dose didnt work. The only way someone could become infected with chlamydia or gonorrhea again is if they have unprotected sex with someone who already is infected. This is why you should tell your partner if you have something – your partner also needs to get treated so you do not pass it back and forth to each other.
