Step Fathers Income Used To Calculate FAFSA?

If you are/have been paying her upkeep for 8 years (without being married to her mother), I don’t understand why you suddenly cringe at the thought of doing this after you marry her mom. Cold feet? Anyway… If she and mom can’t afford it, why on earth is she looking at a college costing 150K/35K year? She can attend a perfectly good state school for less than a 10th of that. As her future father, perhaps you could coach her on what exactly is reasonable compared to the family bank account. If your “soon to be” stepdaughter has already filed her fafsa, then she will not be required to re-submit her application for the upcoming academic year. All the info is a snapshot of the date she filed the fafsa, and since you and her mom were not married on that day…. it will stay this way until she reapplies for the next academic year. (She will do this around Feb/March of 2009). You could get married after this date and not be considered when determining her 2009-2010 academic year aid. Anyway
