In doing commercials for Owens Corning for more than 25 years I have learned a lot about R-value and fiberglass insulation. I also know enough about U-value to think you might want the C-, k- or R-value because U-value indicates the thermal conductivity of a system, such as a wall assembly, not the thermal conductivity or resistance of an individual material or component. Regardless, I recommend sending your question to a company that makes and knows steel.
