Spiritually squeaking: whats the difference between disagreement and persecution?

0

Disagreement is a not-sharing of another person’s views. Persecution is a mistreating of another person, which may or may not be a result of disagreement. However it has to be said that some people think that when they voice their opinions and one disagrees with them, they are being persecuted. They also fail to understand that not being allowed to influence the actions of others is not the same thing as persecution. Here’s an example: I disagree with the flat-Earth theory, I think it’s brain dribble, but I do not mistreat people who believe it, people are free to believe whatever nonsense they like, I’m still not persecuting. Now, if flat-Earthists want flat-Earth theory taught in science classes I’d protest against it, I’m still not persecuting because I’m on the defence. For me to persecute flat-Earthists I’d have to say that they’re not permitted to preach their beliefs at all, even in private. Ridicule is also not persecution.
