Sophie, Mary, Laurie – any good words of grace and inspiration for us as we begin Lent?
— Moderator on 2-20-2007 at 14:27:11 • Karen, I’m glad you asked about Lent. For Lent, I am not giving up chocolate – because I already can’t eat chocolate. And I am not giving up work – because I already have no job (still!). But I am giving up (and fasting from) criticism of myself and others. All kidding aside – I really want to give up all criticism. I also have this wonderful pamphlet type of book called “Praying The Stations With The Women of the World” by Carol Jaworski…..For example, with Station 1: We remember women today who are condemned – who need to flee their homes because of war or those who are imprisioned or women of the streets, or battered in their own homes (and this is just Station 1). Lent also is a time when I can really reflect on being more humble – maybe I was getting too arrogant with my chaplain job that I just recently lost. And on Good Friday, I love doing the Walk for Justice Stations of the Cross in Downtown Rockford (I know they do the same in Chicago
