The DB2000 database has a completely redesigned sonar model, further details can be found here. In addition, Harpoon 3 uses a pretty weird formula for calculating the sonar range circles. So the circles in the simulator are not actual sonar ranges, and it therefore recommended to play with sonar range circles OFF.
