Sometimes PSI distributes generic condoms which are not identified as PSI branded condoms by respondents, what do we do?
Whether a respondent is using PSI branded condoms is not obtained from respondent’s report of “I am using (or not using) PSI branded condoms” since most respondents don’t know whether the condom they are using is PSI branded. We suggested data on condom brand should be collected by showing pictures of (PSI) brands at the same time or one by one so that the respondents can let the interviewer know that they use this, that, and so on. Based on such information, we then decide if they are using PSI branded condoms or not. When PSI distributes generic condoms, if the platform includes the number of generic condoms distributed into its total sales data, when collecting brand data for BCC DALYs, they should also show the picture of the generic condoms and treat them as PSI condoms.
