Sometimes I see the BayNews9 system tray icon in the lower right, change to a flashing lightning bolt. What does this mean?
A flashing lightning bolt will appear if a breaking weather alert was issued. This could be a critical weather event such as a tornado or severe thunderstorm. Simply left click on the icon to open the client application window to read the headline associated with the type of severe weather condition that went into effect, so you can take appropriate action. Additionally, if you persistently display the temperature “pill” on your desktop (it’s on by default, but can be turned off), a severe weather alert will cause it to turn red. Clicking within the temperature area will open the appropriate window to get the most current information on this type of weather activity.
