Sometimes, file transfers fail. How Can I Improve Reliability?
There are several reasons why file transfers may fail, and unfortunately, it’s usually impossible for Rumpus to determine why. Think about making a call from one cell phone to another (or using land-lines 30 years ago). Disconnections happen, but from your point of view, you can’t really tell where the problem occurred. It could have been a loss of service on your phone, on the other guy’s phone, or somewhere in between. The other person may just have hung up, or their phone may have run out of power. All you know is that the connection was lost. Similarly, when a client connection is lost, Rumpus has no good way to tell why. It could have been a bad connection. The client may have inadvertently closed the browser window (terminating the connection), or a firewall may have decided to close the connection. (Some firewalls, for example, will only allow HTTP POSTs to be a certain length.) The first thing you should do is make sure your users understand that they can’t close their browser,
