Someone on Ebay is selling what they say is the actual helmet worn by the Phantom in the movie, or from the same mold as the actual helmet. Is it really the helmet that was used in the movie?
No. Several different versions (prototypes) of the helmet were created, from several different molds, on the way to reaching the final design. This one appears to be from one of the alternate molds, not from the one from which the actual helmet used in the film was cast. The faceplate, for one thing, is substantially longer and thinner than the faceplate used on the helmet in the film, and the manner in which the faceplate is hinged to the helmet is entirely different from the actual helmet as well.
