Windows XP has a feature called ‘Active Desktop’. It appears that with some email programs you can move a link from an email onto your desktop. Also, you can set a website to ‘actively’ display its contents on your desktop. In either case you get this box appearing on your desktop that frankly, looks pretty ugly with a portion of the vPike website displayed in it. This XP ‘Active Desktop’ feature was removed in Windows Vista and replaced with the sidebar. The following steps tell you how to remove a website box from your Windows XP desktop.
