No. SpectraSan 24 contains ionic silver, NOT dangerous metallic or colloidal silver. Ionic silver poses no threat to people, pets, or the environment. And it readily degrades into inert elemental silver in the environment — and that is not toxic either. According to the EPA and OSHA, the ionic silver contained in SpectraSan 24 is non-hazardous. And EPA’s Toxicity Characteristic Leaching Procedure tests confirm: waste does not exhibit the characteristics of toxicity as defined by 40 CFR 26.24 for silver content.
