If the asbestos is on private land, as it would be for most alleyways, the owner is responsible for removing it. Out Asbestos Management Team can visit the site to confirm if it is asbestos; if so, it will arrange for the asbestos to be removed. This depends on the type of asbestos and its condition. If it is in good condition and is unlikely to become damaged, it is not a hazard, we will not have it removed. The costs of removal will be charged to the landowner.
