Systems Analysis and Design is a complex task. It relies on the dissemination of theory, concepts, tools, and practice-oriented applications. Students need to understand the ‘real-world’ environment which a systems analyst/designer typically encounters. They must be made aware of the variety of actors who function in this setting, and how to deal with a wide-ranging, frequently disparate, set of needs. Ideally, the student should leave the class with an extensive theoretical base, a repertoire of tools and techniques worthy of a craftsman, an artist’s creativity, and the diplomatic skills of a statesman.NOMAS, a web-based case teaching approach, is targeted at both the Undergraduate and MBA levels and is intended to achieve a significant subset of the aforementioned ideals.
