So I don have to buy a specific thumb drive or pen drive from Freedom Scientific in order to use my current JAWS or MAGic license?

That is correct! You can copy the applications on to as many different thumb drives as you want. The license to use JAWS or MAGic is not installed on the thumb drive itself so if you lose the thumb drive, you have not lost your software license.
