Six months on, how has editor Pat MacInnes got on with the latest seatbox from Fox Match?
New seatboxes are like new cars; at first everything’s in the wrong place and it just feels odd. But the excitement of getting a new major piece of kit always makes you feel good, regardless of the teething problems. My MSB System 2 has been with me for six months now and I do have to say that I’ve settled in quickly with it. It’s a far cry from the old ‘water-tank’ boxes I started off with as a nipper, and don’t I know it – there are more bells and whistles on this box than I’ve ever had to play with before! I saw the prototype of the MSB about two years ago now when I paid a visit to the Fox HQ, in Essex. Back then I was seriously impressed with what consultant Mark Pollard and his team had come up with and immediately saw it was going to be a major rival to the ‘oil-rig’ stations that seem so popular with Continental manufacturers; it had the removable units that are common these days but all based around a compact frame that UK anglers are more familiar with.
