The use of NAT should not be a problem. Although the IP address is sent in the data portion, it is only for information purposes: reporting on the IP addresses of clients connected to the server. For EDBC servers on the mainframe, the client’s IP address can also be used for security checking. The IP address in the data portion is not used to control processing or flow of data. Ingres/Net from the client application side requests a connection to a particular hostname or IP address from TCP. It is up to the TCP to route that request to the appropriate server. With NAT in the middle, the IP address of the old target server will be translated to the IP address of the server.
