Sir kindly tell me about Psychometric Test in various competitive examinations for engineers such as in NTPC?
Psychometric testing usually falls into three main types: Ability testing, Aptitude testing and Personality questionnaires. An ability test such as the General Ability Test (GAT) is usually made up of four tests of specific ability – numerical ability; verbal ability; non-verbal ability and spatial ability. Aptitude tests tend to be job related while personality questionnaires aim to identify the enduring characteristics of the person that are significant for interpersonal behaviour. In the case of selection of engineering graduates for NTPC, the psychometric test, group discussion and interview are held only for candidates who have qualified the selection test which has testing of subject knowledge and Executive Aptitude. For the Psychometric test, you only have to give an objective response to help the recruiter identify your personality traits relevant for the organisation. You are not expected to prepare any model answers for such tests.
