Sins of the Father – how far back should it go if at all?
It’s just a load of cobblers. It’s like Blair apologising for the Slave Trade as though it had anything to do with us. All we can do is to never allow bad stuff to happen, if we possibly can avoid it. What we cannot do is change the past. Quite right about the Empire – I was born in 1941 and saw the last vestiges of Empire. My grandfather, of fond memory, had fought in the Boer War and General Kitchener had told the British Army that “this war is about one man one vote”. In other words that Black South Africans would get the vote, etc. Took a damn long time to achieve, but thankfully it’s now in place – all thanks to the ANC and endless support from the people of UK, the BBC banging on and etc. Okay, all most of us can do is think a couple of good thoughts each day – but if 200 million or more of us do that, then the world might be a better place. Smile, this is the first day of the rest of our lives.
